Add scenarios to multiple projects
To generate new scenarios for multiple projects, you can use the Scenario Builder tool:
- In the Hierarchy Explorer, right-click on a consolidation or project node. Go to Tools > Scenario Builder.
- On the Scenario 1 tab, ensure that the Generate this Scenario box is checked, then use the drop-down lists to select the source and destination scenarios.
Note: If the selected source scenario does not exist, a notification will be displayed.
- In the box at the bottom, drag variable categories under operations you want to perform with their values. You can select multiple variable categories by holding down CTRL or SHIFT. In the image above, oil and gas production values will be reduced by 40% in the newly created scenario (the scalar factor is set to 60%), while all other values will be copied as they are.
Function | Description |
---|---|
Apply Scalar Factor | Values in the source scenario will be multiplied by the factor specified in the Scalar Factor field. |
Apply Power Rule | Values in the source scenario will be multiplied by the power rule factor. The power rule factor equals the scalar factor to the power of 2/3. |
Copy Unchanged | Values will be copied into the destination scenario without any changes. |
Ignore | Values will be ignored. This option is used when you want to update an existing scenario without overwriting data it already contains. |
Zero Out | Values in the destination scenario will be set to zero. |
- Check the Overwrite Existing Scenario box to overwrite values if the new scenarios already exist in projects being updated.
- Check the Copy WI Settings box to copy working interest settings from the source scenario into the destination scenario.
- In the Data Links section, select Copy external data links to copy links or Copy values from linked variables to preserve values and discard the links.
Note: If you copy links for variables moved into the Apply Scalar Factor, Apply Power Rule or Zero Out sections, the values will remain the same since they will be coming from an external source; to change linked values, you need to use the Copy values from linked variables option.
- To create more than one scenario, repeat these steps on the Scenario 2 and Scenario 3 tabs.
- When you are ready to proceed, click on the Generate button at the bottom of the window.
- The hierarchy will now contain the new project scenarios attached to the selected projects.
